The Greg Foat Group 2nd Album recording Sessions

This winter I've had my head down concentrating on writing and demo'ing new material with Steve, Greg and the Cat Black boys. Its all slowly coming to fruition, Steve's next album is being recorded in April and Cat Black's steadily developing its sound and songs.

Last week I visited Sweden for my second session recording the follow up to "Dark Is The Sun" by The Greg Foat Group, released through Jazzman records. Kungsten Studios in Gothenburg is without doubt the finest studio I have worked in, the vintage analogue recording equipment is second to none. Every take was recorded live to an Ampex 16 track 2" tape machine with no digital overdubs/cut and paste jobs. This required intense concentration and listening as well as technique and a bit of luck to get the perfect take. The next GFG record is sounding much more contemporary and psychedelic than the last with more emphasis on the beat and abstraction through form.
I'm very much looking forward to heading back to Sweden to finish the mix and eventually receiving another Greg Foat Group album on vinyl.

Halden Pop Festival

Yet another crazy/amazing trip to Germany with Steve Cradock, this time to play at the Halden Pop Festival. Did a radio show for one of the big stations out there on the Friday followed by a performance at Halden. Really great reception from the crowd, those Germans know their music.
